Fishing is very popular in the South Holland area, available on all rivers and most drains.
The area has a reputation for the quality of its fishing and the waterways have a well distributed and wide variety of fish, with perch, bream, pike, chub, gudgeon, rudd, roach and carp the most common.
The National Angling Championships are often held in the Fens.
Agency rod licences are required, obtainable from the Environment Agency telephone: 01733 371811 or from Post Offices.
In addition, a local permit may be required to fish a particular stretch of water. These are available from local fishing tackle shops:
