Overlooking the River Welland stands the medieval Ayscoughfee Hall. Situated in five acres of beautiful walled gardens, boasting tennis courts, bowling green, putting green, children's play area, cafe and brand new souvenir shop.
Eighteen months of archaeological and architectural studies, together with a complete refurbishment, has created an unmissable attraction! There are new displays and interactive exhibits which tell the story of the district, people of South Holland and of the famous Spalding Gentlemen's Society.
The beautiful walled gardens are recognised as nationally important in their own right. Ayscoughfee has one of the oldest yew hedges in the UK as well as more formal flower displays that change with the season.
A war memorial, designed by Edward Lutyens (designer of the Cenotaph in London), is a permanent reminder of those who lost their lives fighting for their town and country.
